As parents, the checklist for our children’s education is often long and complex. We want academic rigor, certainly, but we also want an environment where our children feel known, safe, and truly welcome. At The Country Day School (CDS), we believe that a supportive community is the foundation upon which academic success is built.
Located on a beautiful 100-acre campus in King City, CDS is more than just a school; it is a dynamic community where 830 students from JK to Grade 12 discover who they are.
Academic Excellence Meets Inspired Teaching
We are proud to offer a strong academic program designed to help every child thrive. Our well-rounded curriculum challenges students with accelerated offerings, including Advanced Placement (AP) classes, preparing them for the rigors of post-secondary education.
However, a curriculum is only as good as the educators delivering it. CDS boasts incredible faculty with decades of teaching experience. These are mentors who truly know, support, and inspire our students every single day, ensuring that no student gets lost in the crowd.
Education with Balance
At CDS, we live and breathe our mission of Education with Balance. As a non-denominational school, we cultivate a culture of inclusivity where every family has a sense of belonging. We prioritize student well-being across all grades through our Student Services Centre—which offers ongoing academic, advisory, and counseling support—and through our commitment to Outdoor Education. Recognizing that nature is essential to a child’s development, we take advantage of our sprawling campus at every opportunity to foster a truly collaborative and balanced learning environment.
Beyond the Classroom
Our students benefit from state-of-the-art facilities, including a spectacular Performing Arts Centre and the Marche-style Niczowski, Temovsky, and Arrigo Dining Hall, which provides over 900 nutritious meals daily.
Life at CDS is vibrant. Our robust extracurricular program includes:
- Athletics: 48 teams across 24 sports for Grades 4–12.
- The Arts: High-level opportunities in Drama, Music, and Visual Arts.
- Extracurriculars: A phenomenal Public Speaking & Debate team that consistently qualifies for World Championships, as well as Robotics, DECA, Model UN, and Social Justice clubs.
Accessible and Connected
Our community extends far beyond King City. Students travel from Aurora, Richmond Hill, and Newmarket, and as far afield as Barrie, Stouffville, Markham, Vaughan, Caledon, Brampton, and North York. With seven buses providing safe transportation from up to an hour away, CDS is accessible to families across the GTA. The school day runs from 8:45 am to 3:15 pm, with extracurricular activities continuing until 4:30 pm.
A Launchpad for the Future
The CDS journey yields impressive results. Our graduates consistently gain acceptance to their top-choice universities. While most attend Canadian institutions, approximately 10% accept offers in the US, UK, and abroad each year.
Our alumni pursue diverse paths:
- Science/Engineering: 40%
- Social Sciences/Humanities: 35%
- Business: 20%
From Astrophysics to Urban Sustainability, our graduates go on to successful careers in law, healthcare, engineering, the arts, and even professional athletics.
